The Celebration of Light Event is an annual interactive, multimedia production of Mississippi Talent Education.  Using symbols of light common among world cultures, the Event celebrates cultural diversity through music, art, dance, and storytelling.  The Celebration of Light is a year-long effort providing the opportunity for varied cultural experiences among communities in the Jackson-Metro area. Throughout the year, Mississippi Talent Education reaches out to different communities by organizing fine-arts-based projects that focus on ethnic “light metaphors” shared between otherwise unrelated local groups. This cross-cultural collaboration culminates in the annual Celebration of Light Event, where these groups cooperatively participate in an interactive, exciting, family experience.

 

Come one come all for a fun, family oriented evening, filled with music dance, and stories from around the world.  Greet our Chinese lion and meet our resident dragon.  Experience the music, dance, and traditional costumes of Indian and Aztec dancers, feel the vibrations of West African Drumming, and create a community paper quilt.

 

Proceeds from this year's event will benefit Mississippi Children’s Home Services.
